About

Hi, I’m Shashank Verma

Kombat Krav - Shashank Verma

Right from the age of five, I was put into Karate classes by my father. However, I absolutely hated them. Plus, the head instructor was too heartless for a kid.

I remember this big burly man with a black belt who often kicked and punched me in the gut whenever I made a mistake. Of course, those sent me to the ground immediately.

I am sure he was not even using any power, but still, it hurt, and the memory stuck.

Despite winning several medals and certificates in various tournaments, I decided to hang my yellow belt and retire after an illustrious career at the age of six.

I developed a knack for sports and played a lot of cricket and football, even representing the school team as the right midfielder till the age of fifteen.

My love for these continued till college as I kept in touch and played reasonably frequently. But it changed something inside without me realizing it.

It didn’t feel right whenever I tried to go to a conventional gym. I found it so dull that I could never continue for more than six months at a stretch.

The idea of only playing around with heavy weights never felt exciting.

My tryst with weights and workouts continued till the age of thirty as I bounced from one gym to another from time to time after failing to exercise at home.

COVID was, of course, one of the most challenging times to keep me motivated.

What Brought Me To Krav Maga?

All this changed on one fateful night in July 2021 when a known intruder entered the house due to a grudge and almost killed a family member and me.

The realization that I could’ve died that night hit hard, and I wanted to change that. The feeling of being helpless as you’re about to pass out is the worst one. Karate wasn’t my thing that I was sure about.

And various other martial arts would’ve only meant training with the mindset of playing tournaments and winning matches rather than defending yourself on the street under any situation.

My search for a system I could use in real-life situations brought me to Krav Maga. The classes felt right up my alley since day one, and I’ve never looked back.

I train six days a week for 1.5 hours every day, not because I want to be a master or wear a black belt but because I love doing it and improving my skills.

What I Aim To Do Through Kombat Krav?

I aim to tackle your queries on Krav Maga and related techniques to the best of my understanding. From strikes to defense, from techniques to sparring, I’ve got you covered!

However, I am no expert and don’t claim to be so. In fact, far from being an expert. I am just a Level 3 student in something that has more than ten levels and requires a lifetime of dedication.

Thus, the content you take away from this website should be supplemented with more research from other credible sources and people with much more experience than me.

As I learn more and more every day, what you might read today may not be available on the website in the future. This is the best way to learn.

Continuing to challenge yourself and growing through experience.
